Amazing Race Saturday

I’ve only seen a couple episodes of the amazing race, but this certainly felt similar. I had 2 businesses and 2 humans to schedule time with along with dealership/tire place. One gallery was a used bookstore (Bookmans) and a Dungeons and Dragons meeting was scheduled in there for 12:30pm, we didn’t figure they’d still be there at 4pm, but I had an inkling, as the last trip involved the making of chain-mail(sp?) group that ran over their scheduled time.

It’s always beautiful to drive about the area, but there were a couple freak-out times when I was afraid we’d not make it to a stop during allotted window of time. We drove by the State fair, and I smelled the cotton candy and longed to join the frocks of people loitering about on such a great day, as did Steve want to see the airplane’s looping tricks of smoke trails in the sky over Glendale. When I called the friends to meet with them they too were having envious fun brunching on chic patio restaurants, or garage sale-ing with friends but this is the time of the busy and once the art show is done I too can try to remember what things I would like to be doing besides working on the weekend.

The art festival I am in is in 2 weeks, but Steve’s family will be here, as well as Halloween next weekend so I wanted to get all done this weekend that I could. This involved:

Picking up:

  • Artowork from 2 galleries
  • Prints from Netherbeast movie set designer
  • Chairs, cooler from friend that had party last weekend
  • Material for tablecloth/Halloween costume

Not planned:

  • Nail in tire
  • Trip to dealership to find they don’t carry tires for my car
  • Discount tire for replacement of tires
  • Viewing of airshow along highway
  • passing of state fair

We covered so much ground I thought it's be fun to plot it out:

These illustrations are a collaberative project for a childrens book with some folks at work.

I'm doing some more illustrative drawings, and a coworker is doing some cartoonish stuff. A guy corralled us to help in out and will be publishing a one-time book for his wife as a gift when their son arrives sometime at the end of this month. I'm pretty excited, but have had a tough time finding hours to work on it as things seem really busy lately.

It's busy but I am enjoying it. The weather is cooling a bit, so I can take doggers for walks. It also seems as if a lot of art related stuff is taking off. The movie - which I supposedly have some artwork in -www.netherbeastmovie.com, a coop I put an application in for-still waiting to hear back on that, a pretty big charities campaign I am applying to get into, and an art festival to prepare for on November 5th. It's weird that not much has happened all summer art-wise then all the sudden I'm a bit overwelhmed, yet thankful.

I also got a bunch of books from a gift cert. I won, and am enjoying these two right now:
-Home Land by Sam Lipsyte
-The Best American Nonrequired Reading 2005 (Best American) By Dave Eggers
